The International Colloquium is organized by Jagiellonian University at the Faculty of Management and Social Communication / Institute of Culture.

The mission of Institute is educating proffesional managers of culture, art and media.
As well as the study of phenomena related to the management
of the culture, media economics and in the board sense
inderdisciplinary description of the current culture.

Institute of Culture at Faculty of Management and Social Communication at the Jagiellonian University consists of:

Deparment of Culture Management – there is the only ones in the full range of studies in Poland.
Department of Management and Economics of Media,
Department of Contemporary Culture,
Depratment of Philosophical Research on the Culture,
Departament of Anthropology, Organization and methodology of the Humanist Management.

International programs:

Investigating Cultural Sustainability COST Action IS1007 – European research network focused in a multidisciplinary perspective on the relationship between culture and sustainable development. Supported by European COST Association (COperation in Science and Technology) and funded within the European Commission’s research programme Horizon 2020. COST Actions are designed to build new knowledge by bringing together researchers to cooperate and coordinate nationally-funded research activities, and to build up new transnational and international research co-operation.
Due to its broad definition and understanding “culture” can be regarded as a fundamental issue, even a precondition to be met on the path towards Sustainable Development (SD) that is necessary to get to grips with in our various European societies. Yet the theoretical and conceptual understanding of culture within the general frames of sustainability remains vague. Consequently, the role of culture in the political framework of sustainable development is poorly operationalised.

Intensive Programme (IP) Culture as a Creative Resource for Future Europe. Cultural Policy and its Dimension in Four European Countries: Finland, Germany, Bulgaria and Poland 2011-2013, funded by the ERASMUS, Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union; was to start the scientific cooperation between the four institutes educating the future professionals in the field of cultural management. These four universities were:

〈 Pädagogische Hochschule Ludwigsburg, Germany (coordinator of the project)
〈 HUMAK University of Applied Sciences, Finland
〈 Jagellonian University in Cracow, Poland
〈 South-West University Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria

The increased cultural exchanges within European Union have created a strong demand for international academic experts in the field of cultural management. Enlargement and integration of the European Union is changing also the field of cultural management. The globalization, changes in the demography, changes in the cultural policy, changes in the financing the culture are all creating needs for updating the education for cultural management. European culture is open to the international competition and multicultural environment is creating new challenges for those who are working in the cultural sector. Especially increases the skills to recognize the factors influencing the cultural policy and capability to analyze them.
